Voivodship Contract for years 2007-2008

John Paul II Kraków-Balice International Airport Ltd. received funds from appropriated allocations from the state budget for subsidising tasks within construction and modernisation of regional airports under the resolutions of the Voivodship Contract for Małopolska Voivodship for the years 2007 – 2008, realised within the framework of the project Development of Kraków – Balice Regional Airport Ltd.

The total value of the project amounts to PLN 9.6 million, PLN 7.2 million of which was from appropriated allocations.

The objective of the project was to increase safety at Kraków Airport through the implementation of undertakings within article 33 of the Community Guidelines on subsidising airports and state help for starting businesses for companies that provide flights from regional airports (Dz.U.UE.C.05.312.1). The project involves a number of actions which will enable the provision of suitable safety standards in air traffic. In light of international regulations and the consequences of the 9/11 attacks, these actions will facilitate prevention of potential threats and minimisation of their effects.

As a result of the implementation of the project:
  • The safety of flight operations will increase,
  • The level to which standards of air traffic safety determined by national and regional regulations are met will increase,
  • The detection rate of situations which pose a threat to air traffic safety will increase,
  • The effects of situations which pose a threat to human life and property will be minimised.
