The vision of the John Paul II International Airport Kraków - Balice Ltd. is total compliance with the top-most standards of the European airport network.
On the 5th of July 1996, by notarial deed, a limited liability company named “Międzynarodowy Port Lotniczy Kraków-Balice” (Kraków-Balice International Airport) was set up in the area of Balice, .
On the 3rd of September 1996, the Company took over the fixed assets contributed by the partners in the form of property contributions, and on the 18th of March 1997, it was granted a concession for running business operations in the civil part of the airport by the Civil Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport and Marine Management, following which it received the required certification.
On the 1st of July 1997, Kraków-Balice International Airport Ltd. began its operational business by bringing over all the employees of the “Porty Lotnicze” State Company and assuming management of them.
On the 23rd of June 1998, following a resolution from the General Assembly of Partners, the Company was named “Międzynarodowy Port Lotniczy im. Jana Pawła II Kraków-Balice Sp. z. o. o.” (John Paul II Kraków-Balice International Airport Ltd).
Kraków Airport as a facility is used by both military and civil aviation, with John Paul II Kraków-Balice International Airport Ltd managing the civil part of the airport.
The airport covers a total area of 426 hectares, approximately 24 hectares of which is managed by John Paul II Kraków-Balice International Airport Ltd.
John Paul II Kraków-Balice International Airport Ltd has its registered seat in Balice at ul. Kpt. M. Medweckiego 1, 32-083 Balice, and is a legally established company with initial capital amounting to 101 232.000 PLN. The company is recorded in the register of the Kraków-Śródmieście District Court in Kraków, 11th Department of the National Court Register’s Business Register under the number KRS: 0000008522.
Company Business Activity
Development, modernisation and utilisation of Kraków International Airport and all activity related to managing passenger and cargo air traffic, including the international border checkpoint at the airport, in order to promote Kraków and the region, facilitate tourist traffic and, in more general terms, to perform public utility tasks (in accordance with the regulations of 8th March 1990 concerning self-governmental authorities - Dz. U. Nr 142 z 2001r., poz. 1591 z póź. zm. (Journal of Laws Number 142 of 2001, Item 1591 with later amendments). Services within and outside the airport which include lease of rooms, area and advertising spaces etc.
