In recent years, Kraków Airport has seen a huge increase in the number of passengers. In 2007, our airport served 3,068,199 passengers and as a result, it once again came in first among national regional airports in terms of passenger throughput. Consequently, it became indispensable to take actions which would result in the implementation of urgent investments within the existing and new infrastructure of the airport and its surroundings.

When planning the investments, the International Airport Board took into consideration the fact that they would have a much wider effect, beyond the development of the airport on its own. A higher flow capacity of the infrastructure, that is, a larger number of connections and passengers, would not be without consequence for the entire Małopolska Voivodship area. Consequently, it should be emphasised that the new investments at the airport fall within the guidelines of the Development Strategy of Małopolska Voivodship for the years 2007-2013, and the Master plan of our airport.
