The constant modernization of the structure and increasing the capacity of the airport is a condition for its further development and success.

The investments being conducted at Kraków Airport first and foremost include three spheres:
  • The development of facilities designated for servicing passengers.
  • Limiting the further degradation of the airport surface and ensuring the required standard of aircraft servicing.
  • The development of the infrastructure ensuring the proper functioning of the airport (including the construction of an internal road system, compatible with the external road system and the purchase of equipment aimed at ensuring a high level of safety).
The efficient completion of the investment is possible thanks to the procurement of the relevant funds from the European Union.

In the nearest future, the priority investments for the further development of the Kraków Airport are measures co-financed by:

Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment for 2007-2013
Regional Operational Programme for Małopolska Voivodship
  TEN-T Community Programme)

Until now, the Krakow-Balice International Airport has taken advantage of, among others, financing from the Schengen Fund, which was allocated for the modernisation of the international border crossing and adjusting the Airport passenger terminal to the provisions of the Schengen Agreements. It has also obtained financing from a special purpose grant from the state budget for financing tasks in the scope of the construction and modernisation of the regional airports covered under the provisions of Provincial Contract for Małopolska Province for the years 2007-2008, carried out within the framework of the “The Development of Krakow-Balice Regional Airport Ltd.” project.
