Projects carried out by Kraków Airport within the framework of MROP
The project carried out at Kraków Airport is part of Priority 5 “The Kraków Metropolitan Area” (Measure 5.3: The development of integrated metropolitan transport). Its basic objective is the strengthening of the position of the Krakow Metropolitan Centre on the European arena.

The development of the Kraków Metropolitan Area (KMA) is one of the most significant factors aimed at improving the competitiveness of the Małopolska region. Equipping the area with the infrastructure and facilities of a relevant quality, without which the fulfilment of metropolitan functions on a high level would be very much impeded is of vital importance.

In order to facilitate easy access to the KMA, and thus the development of the area in the social and economic aspect, Kraków Airport will carry out a project regarding the construction of the Airport’s internal transport system. It has been included in the Indicative List of Individual Key Projects of the MROP, and thus qualifies to receive funding from the programme, as one of the strategic investments for Małopolska.

The total value of the project amounts to ca. PLN 39 million, from which PLN 21 million will be constituted by funding. The investment is an element of the process adjusting the transport system on the grounds of the Airport to the increasing number of serviced passengers. Actions in this scope will be aimed at creating an internal road-railway network reflecting the needs of the planned investments (including the development of the existing terminal, the construction of a hotel, the development of the administrative and technical buildings) as well as linking the internal transport system with the external system.

The undertaking is closely linked with other investments carried out by external entities within the framework of the development of the integrated system of transport connections between Krakow and the Kraków – Balice International Airport (the reconstruction of provincial road no. 774 – Malopolska Province, the construction of exists from the A4 highway – the General Directorate for National Roadways and Highways (GDDKiA), a railway connection between Kraków-Mydlniki-Balice – PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.) [National Polish Railways].

Detailed information on the completed investments has been included in the chart.
