Investments in the scope of priority VI “Road and Air transport TEN-t network” (Measure 6.3 Development of TEN-t air transport network) and VIII “Transport safety and national road safety” (Measure 8.4 Safety and security in air transport) are being carried out at Kraków- Balice International Airport.

 
 


Action 6.3 – Development of the TEN-t air transport network


The project focuses on the improvement of Poland's and its regions' communication access through the development of the Kraków-Balice International Airport infrastructure. The development and modernisation of the passenger terminal as well as the reconstruction of the taxiway and increasing the area of the apron will ensure a high quality of service provision.

The main objective of the Kraków-Balice International Airport is the improvement of Poland’s communication access and inter-regional flights through participating in the development of the TEN-T air transport network.

The detailed objectives are:

  • increasing the capacity of the airports within the TEN-t network,
  • improving the standards of passenger traffic servicing.

Measure – 8.4 Safety and security in air transport


The group of the five projects being carried out focuses on the optimisation of the conditions for passenger servicing at the Kraków – Balice International Airport through assuring the relevant safety standards. The purchase and implementation of the system and equipment tools supporting the knowledge and professional experience of the airport staff is aimed at sealing and optimising the procedures ensuring safety and security of all the air transport participants, which is in compliance with the general and operational objectives set forth within the framework of the OPI&E.
The general objective is securing the relevant safety standards in the area of passenger transport carried out on the grounds of the Kraków – Balice International Airport.


The detailed objectives are:

  • the implementation of a security system – passenger and baggage control, in compliance with the standards resulting from the uniform sector provisions,
  • the optimisation of the safety and security system, in the context of the possible events of violating air transport safety, including the occurrence of critical events,
  • adjusting the logistics base of the on ground services staff to the scale and intensity of the passenger traffic,
  • improvement of the passenger traffic servicing.
