Uwaga All passengers travelling to France, Spain, Germany, Norway, Sweden and Italy and departing from Krakow Airport on Saturdays between 9.00 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. are asked to arrive at the airport 2 hours in advance of their scheduled flight, due to extended security procedures. This also applies to passengers flying with carry-on luggage only and holding a valid boarding card printed in advance.

To achieve the high level of safety of its aviation services, the John Paul II Kraków-Balice International Airport Ltd. is undertaking a number of actions aimed at eliminating threats posed by wild animals and birds.

Due to the fact that pigeons have been noticed in the area of the airport, most probably from farms in neighbouring towns, we would like to inform you of the regulations in force (Aviation Law Act - Dz. U. z 2006 r. Nr 100, poz. 696, z późn. zm.):

Article 87.

[...]
1. In the vicinity of the airport, that is, within 5 kilometres of its borders, it is forbidden:
1) To construct or develop any buildings which can become a feeding ground for birds;
2) To keep birds which can pose a threat to air traffic.
2. In the properties that are located near the landing area, it is forbidden to plant or grow trees or shrubs which can become obstacles to aircraft; the responsibility and cost of removal of such trees and plants will be borne by their owner or other subjects managing the property.


Article 210.1.
Persons who:
[...]
7) Regardless of prohibitions and warnings announced on information boards or in any other way by the manager of the airport, breach the regulations and prohibitions determined by the manager,
8) regardless of article 87, excerpt 6 and 7 of the regulation, construct or develop building/s which provide a feeding ground for birds, who keep birds which can pose a threat to air traffic, or plants or grows trees which can become obstacles for aircraft by breaching the permissible level of surface free of obstacles,

- is liable to pecuniary penalty.

2. The same penalty applies to persons who, by not fulfilling their duties, permits acts determined in excerpt 1.
3. Abetment to acts determined in excerpt 1, complicity and attempt are also liable to the penalty determined in excerpt 1.
4. In the cases determined in excerpts 1-3, adjudication is passed according to the regulations concerning proceedings in legal offences.


We would also like to formally issue a request concerning cooperation in order to eliminate the acknowledged threats, especially by informing the inhabitants of towns and villages located in the vicinity of the Kraków-Balice airport about the regulations in force and undertaking of attempts aimed at revealing and prosecuting those who breach the above-mentioned aviation law regulations.
