Kraków Airport and its neighbours
Add date: Monday, 23 April 2012

Kraków Airport is situated in the Kraków county, the commune of Zabierzów, adjacent to the commune of Liszki. The following villages are situated in the direct vicinity of the airport: Aleksandrowice, Balice, Cholerzyn, Karniowice, Kaszów, Kryspinów, Mników, Morawica, Rączna, Szczyglice and Zabierzów.

Being a neighbour is not without its duties and therefore the airport supports many local enterprises, linked to various areas of life, including permanent and occasional transport, material help for those in need, supporting cultural and residents’ initiatives, and providing financial aid for schools, sport and cultural institutions in the Liszki and Zabierzów communes.

In order to maintain high standards of cooperation with the adjacent communes and support the most interesting and valuable initiatives, a competition under the title “Supporting our Neighbours” has been run since 2009. The airport supports the projects which initiate or consolidate cooperation of residents, and serve a broadly understood interest of local community. The competition was created with the thought of NGOs, local institutions, and informal groups which undertake shared effort to raise the standard of living in the local communities. The largest group of initiatives is directed at children and young people; these are various excursions, cultural events, sport tournaments, providing equipment for after-school clubs, purchasing books, sporting equipment, organising play areas. The first season of the programme was held in the spring this year and the next is planned for the autumn.
