From 28th April to 27th October (which marks the end of the summer season), passengers will be able to fly between Budapest and Kraków six times a week, each day of the week except Thursdays.
The first flight from Kraków to Budapest took off on Saturday, 28th April, at 7.55 a.m. The scheduled flight time is 1 hour and 5 minutes. The return fight from Budapest to Kraków leaves at 9.35 a.m.
The official launch of LOT’s new #flyKRK route was attended by:
- Adrienne Körmendy, PhD, Consul General of the Republic of Hungary
- Radosław Włoszek, CEO at Kraków Airport
- Adrian Kubicki, Executive Director Corporate Communications at LOT Polish Airlines
On this occasion, a celebratory cake was prepared for the cabin crew, and the passengers were treated with traditional Hungarian kurtosh kalach.
The flights will be operated by Bombardier Q400 aircraft, with the capacity of 78 seats and accommodating three travel classes. The connection will allow passengers from southern Poland to conveniently switch flights in Budapest, and continue on one of the new long-distance flights to the United States, offered by LOT. The Polish carrier will offer regular flights from Budapest to New York as of 3rd May, and to Chicago, starting on 5th May. LOT will fly to New York JFK from Budapest four times a week and to Chicago O’Hare twice a week. The launch of the new connection to Budapest is not the only good news for passengers of Kraków Airport, as LOT – true to its word – is also increasing the frequency of direct flights from Kraków to Chicago. Today the carrier flies on this direct route once a week (on Sundays from Chicago to Kraków and on Mondays from Kraków to Chicago). Starting on 2nd July, planes will depart from Chicago on Thursdays at 5.25 p.m. and arrive at 9.35 a.m. the following day. On Fridays, flights will depart from Kraków at 12.40 p.m. and arrive at 3.40 p.m. local time. The estimated flight time is 9 hours and 10 minutes.
The new connection between Kraków and Budapest, more flights between Kraków and Chicago and flights between Budapest and Chicago have been coordinated both in Kraków and Budapest. Passengers will be able to fly between Kraków and Budapest and Chicago four times a week, since the air operations take place on different days of the week. On other days, LOT offers convenient connections to/from Chicago with a stopover in Warsaw.
