On Tuesday, 4th September 2018, during the 28th Economic Forum in Krynica-Zdrój, Kraków Airport and TAURON signed a letter of intent on the construction of an electric vehicle charging station as well as the implementation of environmentally friendly actions, including actions aimed at improving the effectiveness of power consumption.
The new charging station at Kraków Airport will charge a standard electric vehicle at over 50 kW in just 30 minutes.
- For TAURON Group signing the letter of intent is yet another major step towards expanding EV charging infrastructure in southern Poland. In the long run, our goal is to guarantee safe driving for the owners of electric vehicles in the area of the Group’s operation. The fact that we are active on the internet and we are looking into e-mobility shows that we are consequent in transforming the power industry and extending the range of our services – says Filip Grzegorczyk, President of the Management Board of TAURON Polska Energia.
The strategic location of Kraków Airport is essential when it comes to the construction of a network of EV charging stations. A new station at the airport will enable owners of electric vehicles to travel safely between the three major cities of southern Poland: Katowice, Kraków and Rzeszów. The station will be available to the citizens, tourists and entrepreneurs who visit the Kraków urban area, as well as A4 drivers.
- Great numbers of passengers travel to Kraków Airport by car every day. These people include employees of many companies and institutions located at the airport, who travel thousands of kilometres to ensure effective air traffic. Our goal is to introduce innovative and environmentally friendly solutions also in the area of e-mobility: for over a year now we have been using the first hybrid vehicles and today we are entering a new stage – said Radosław Włoszek, CEO at Kraków Airport.
Kraków Airport will be the first airport in Poland to have a fast EV charging station, which will make it one of the elements of the core infrastructure for charging low-emission vehicles in our country. This infrastructure will give our customers the ability to travel vast distances, also in other European countries.
