In August there were 497,534 passengers travelling to or from Kraków Airport. It was the best month in the airport's history. Kraków Airport recorded a 19% increase in passenger traffic (i.e. 80,000 passengers) compared to the same month in 2015.
The beginning of August was the time when pilgrims returned to their homes after the World Youth Day. On 1 August the passenger traffic was the highest in the airport’s history, with exactly 22,552passengers handled.
In August 2016, we recorded 4,002 aerial operations, which was an increase of 14% compared to August 2015. Kraków Airport has already handled 3,296,021 passengers (an increase of nearly 470,000 passengers) since the beginning of the year. This constitutes a growth of 17% compared to 2015.
Today (2 September), Eurowings announced a new route from Kraków Airport to be operated in the next summer season. Starting from March 2017, passengers will be able to travel directly from Kraków to Düsseldorf 6 times a week (each day excluding Saturdays). Düsseldorf is one of the biggest cities in western Germany, spreading on the two sides of the Rhine. It is not only a leading economic power, but also a city with interesting monuments, shops and the greatest art collections in the region of Rhineland. During the present summer season Eurowings offers connections from Kraków to Stuttgart, four times a week.
Also in August, the main airline operating from Kraków Airport – Ryanair – announced two new routes from Kraków to Italy. Starting from 29 March, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Ryanair offers connections to Venice (Treviso) and from 27 March, on Mondays and Fridays, to Pescara.
