LOT Polish Airlines - direct connection to Chicago from Kraków

A long-awaited direct connection from Kraków to the other side of the Atlantic was launched today. A Chicago-bound Dreamliner belonging to LOT Polish Airlines has taken off at the Kraków Airport for the first time. Flights between the capital of Małopolska and Chicago will depart once a week all year round. Flights to Chicago return to the network of the Kraków Airport’s connections after nearly seven years of absence. Over 90,000 passengers flew from Kraków to Chicago using connection flights last year. Since 2012, the average number of passengers on this route has been increasing by 17% per annum. These positive findings of detailed traffic analyses influenced a decision to launch a direct route to Chicago. The overseas flights are the most important of this year’s 28 novelties at the Kraków Airport. They constitute a great offer both for the citizens living in southern Poland and Americans who visit Poland more and more often for tourism, business, or scientific purposes.

A flight from Kraków to Chicago lasts around 9 hours. It is the shortest and at the same time the most convenient connection from Małopolska to the USA. The flights will leave once a week throughout the year. The take off from Kraków to Chicago is scheduled for 11:50 am on Mondays. The arrival will be on the same day, at 2:50 pm (local time). Flights from the Chicago O’Hare airport to the Kraków Airport will depart on Sundays at 5:25 pm (local time), and the plane will land in the capital of Małopolska on Mondays at 9:45 am.

From the 6th of August 2017, the departure and arrival hours on the route between Chicago and Kraków will ultimately change. The plane will depart from Chicago at 4:30 pm (local time) on Sundays and it will arrive at the Kraków Airport at 9:10 am on Mondays. The new LOT Polish Airlines connection is handled by the most cutting-edge aircraft in the world, Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which emits the least amount of noise in its category. This makes it not only passenger-friendly, but also less bothersome to Kraków citizens and the inhabitants of the areas surrounding the airport. It is also environmentally friendly thanks to its low CO2 emissions.

On-board Boeing 787, the passengers can choose from three travel classes: LOT Business Class, LOT Premium Economy and LOT Economy Class. Tickets to flights from Kraków to Chicago can be purchased via all sales channels, including lot.com, Contact Center, LOT Travel and other agencies.

The Kraków - Chicago connection is the ninth long-haul route in LOT’s network, and at the same time the sixth destination in North America and fifth destination in the USA.
