The investments completed in the public area of the airport involved the extension and overhaul of the passenger terminal and the construction of the Internal Transport System (ITS). Other completed investments involved the construction of a footbridge connecting a newly-built terminal with an existing multi-storey car park, the construction of a new railway station and the overhaul of the manoeuvre area in front of the Cargo building. The construction of the new terminal was divided into three stages. The first stage involved the construction of a new section of the terminal along with two towers located by the jet bridge. The building was opened for use in September 2015. The second stage involved the overhaul of the old part of the terminal and the construction of a third tower located by the jet bridge. The third stage included the connection of the new terminal to the old one e.g. by constructing a joint façade on the south side as well as the refurbishment of the oldest section of the terminal inside the building.
The investments in the public area also involved the construction of an open-air car park and a hotel as well as the construction of a footbridge connecting the hotel with the existing multi-storey car park and terminal.
