Quick reaction and skilful first aid given to a passenger of Kraków Airport.
In case of a sudden cardiac arrest, the first few minutes are crucial. Before noon one of the passengers fainted near the airport information point. One of the officers of the Airport Security Service immediately took one of the Automated External Defibrillators (AED) and provided first aid. After regaining bodily functions, the passenger was taken to one of Kraków hospitals by an ambulance.
There are six Automated External Defibrillators (AED) installed in the airport's area. Thanks to a quick reaction of witnesses of such an event, the chance of a successful resuscitation increases. Therefore, everyone should reach for a defibrillator when it is necessary.
AED defibrillators are placed in a generally available zone (at both airport information points and the security checkpoint), in the airside zone (near Aelia shop and at the Border Guard points in the Non-Schengen Zone) and in the VIP terminal.
