In July, 624,695 passengers were served at Kraków Airport. That was 72,000 (+13%) more than in July last year.
The number resulted from 4,585 flights (take-offs and landings) – 9% more than in the same period in 2017. In total, Kraków Airport has already handled 3,816,962 passengers this year. That is 17% more than in the first seven months of the last year.
JULY – EVENTS
NEW CONNECTIONS IN THE 2018/2019 WINTER SEASON
New connections have been announced by LOT and easyJet. From 25th February 2019, LOT will offer new flights to Tel Aviv, and since 29th October, easyJet has been operating a route to London Luton. Other new routes in the winter season include: Eindhoven (Transavia); Vienna (Laudamotion); Leeds Bradford (Jet2.com); Kiev, Lviv, Amman (Ryanair).
NEW TRANSFER ROUTE FOR PASSENGERS
In July, passengers travelling to Kraków from the Schengen Area, EEA or the Swiss Confederation (in short “Schengen”) were able to use a new transfer route. From 23rd to 31st July, approx. 60 people used the new route.
Having arrived at Kraków Airport, passengers can proceed directly from the arrival zone to the departure zone without leaving the restricted zone of the airport, while abiding by the border check procedures in place. The new facility is available to transfer passengers travelling with only hand luggage, or continuing their single-reservation journey from Kraków Airport with their luggage checked in at the original airport for the destination airport.
COALITION FOR SAFETY
On 16th July 2018, Kraków Airport joined the Coalition for the Safety of Children and Youth run by the Małopolska Education Authorities. Companies and institutions operating in Kraków Airport initiate and carry out a number of activities in order to implement solutions for safe and comfortable flights. Kraków Airport houses the Aviation Education Centre, and through grant programmes “Supporting our Neighbours” and “Closer to airport”, it supports activities aimed at e.g. improving children’s safety. Kraków Airport has joined the Polish Civil Aviation Authority campaigns: “Laser is not a toy” and “Drones – fly safe”. Such actions are part of the Social Responsibility Strategy of Kraków Airport.
NEW AMENITY AT THE MULTI-LEVEL CAR PARK
In July, dozens of new parking spaces were added to the on-line parking reservation system, all available on level 2.5 of the multi-level car park located vis-à-vis the passenger terminal.
Until the end of August, the Jet Bistro café in the passenger terminal features an exhibition of the wards of the Autism Centre in Kraków. MPL Services Sp. z o. o. in cooperation with the Autism Centre organised an exhibition of works by children with autism. The “Waterproof” exhibition also includes literary works and photographs inspired by Paweł Lisowski’s pictures and the Centre’s teacher Małgorzata Wiecha’s stories.
VISA-FREE TO USA AND AVIATION AWARENESS
During Aviation Picnics in Nowy Targ and Łososina Dolna, the staff of the Aviation Education Centre, aircraft marshallers, and Welcome Airport Services Sp. z o.o. promoted aviation, social campaigns, including: “Visa-free to USA”, and job opportunities at Kraków Airport.
