In 2017, Kraków Airport served more than 5.8 million passengers.
In the month of December, the airport had almost a quarter of passengers more than in the last month of 2016.
December last year ended with the highest increase in passenger traffic in 2017 - 24% more passengers were served than in December 2016. In total, 479,688 passengers (+24%) used Kraków Airport in the previous month. The number of air operations grew as well, up to 3,703 (+14%).
Last year, almost 852 thousand passengers more than in 2016 used the services of Kraków Airport. The number of passengers served reached 5,835,189 (+17% compared to the previous year). The number of air operations grew to 46,264 (+10%).
Thanks to the strategy of air traffic development we had adopted, in 2017 Kraków Airport offered connections to as many as five new countries, as compared to 2016. These were: the United States, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Morocco and Ukraine, and United Arab Emirates will join our route network starting from April this year. The convenient times of flights to major European transfer airports, on the other hand, make it easy for passengers to benefit from connections to Tokyo/Seoul, Toronto, New York, Singapore, Rio de Janerio and many more.
Air travel is more and more popular among Poles, and the region of Małopolska is attracting international tourists and business. In December, flights to Leeds Bradford, Paris CDG and Basel had a seat occupancy rate of 94%. Destinations preferred by passengers in the last month of the past year were the UK, Germany and Italy.
Kraków Airport’s forecasts assume a 9% increase in passenger traffic in 2018.
