The Krakow Airport served nearly 5 million passengers in 2016, while December 2016 saw a more than 25% increase in the number of passengers served as compared to December 2015
The last month of 2016 saw the peak of passenger traffic in 2016, as 26% more passengers were handled than in December 2015. 386,651 passengers in total (+26%) used the Kraków Airport in the previous month. The number of aircraft operations also grew, reaching 3,254 (+25%).
Last year the Kraków Airport was chosen by over 760,000 passengers more than in 2015. 4,983,645 passengers in total were served in 2016 (+18% compared to the previous year). Also, a 15% increase in the number of aircraft operations was noted, reaching a total of 41,902.
Passenger traffic growth in the Kraków Airport last year reflects the region's demand for air traffic. By expanding the network of direct flights and connections with Europe's largest hubs we help meet the expectations that are set for the airport.
Key factors in the air travel market performance this year will be, among others, geopolitical developments and growing fuel prices, and the projections for the Kraków airport provide estimates for a 4-6% growth in passenger traffic in 2017.
