  1. 1. Frequently asked questions

    • Can sandwiches, beverages and cake be carried in hand luggage?

      Packed food such as sandwiches or cake is allowed in hand luggage. All liquids are subject to a volume limit of 100 ml per item. Every individual can have a maximum of 10 items containing liquids at security check, which must be packed into a plastic ziplock bag.

    • Can car parts be carried in hand luggage?

      We recommend placing car parts in your checked luggage. Due to security reasons they may not be allowed aboard in the hand luggage.     • What

      The Kraków Airport Loyalty card is a type of loyalty card that provides discounts e.g. at the multi-storey car park. The card is available to all passengers flying from Kraków Airport, regardless of the type of flight.

       

      The card can be obtained at our travel agency or Airport Information upon registering a passenger in the program. You can also register yourself in the KAL program. Go to www.krakowairport/loyalty and complete the registration process to receive your card by mail or you can also collect this card at the Airport Information Point at the day of your arrival.

    • I am planning a two-week holiday. How much would it cost to leave a car in the multi-storey car park?

      Information about prices, available spots and bookings can be obtained from the Car Park Customer Service located in the multi-storey car park. It is available 24 hours a day at: +48 (12) 639 3456). Passengers who want to use the multi-storey car park can also join the Kraków Airport Loyalty program offered by Kraków Airport. It provides discounts e.g. at the multi-storey car park and duty-free shops. More information is available at krakowairport/loyalty.

    • Are there any open positions at the airport? Where can I send my CV and cover letter?

      There are also external companies that handle passengers and provide aircraft ground handling services at Kraków Airport.     • What is the least expensive way to reach the airport?

      The least expensive means of transportation is offered by the municipal bus services. More information can be found here.

    • I am currently abroad and my passport expires a few days before my return trip. Can I return to Poland using such a passport?

      Citizens of Poland, whose passports expire before their return trip, can safely cross the Polish border. If you have any doubts, please contact the Polish Border Guard at: +48 (12) 639 3237.

    • My child has had their passport for several years but their appearance has changed. Is it still valid?

      Passports are issued by state authorities for a specific period of time. If the child's passport is still valid, they can freely travel and use it despite the fact that the photograph was taken several years before. If you have any doubts, please contact the Polish Border Guard at: +48 (12) 639 3237. 

    • Can a minor fly to Great Britain with an uncle (supervisor) who has a different surname? Is parental authorisation or consent required?

      Children can travel with an adult supervisor within the European Union without any restrictions. No parental authorisation or consent allowing them to fly with a supervisor who has a different surname is required. Naturally, parents can provide a handwritten authorisation in Polish and, for instance, in English, however it is not required by the airport services.     • I did not have time to print out my boarding pass. Can I do it at the airport?

      If you are flying with an airline that requires passengers to complete self check-in on-line and you forget to print out your boarding pass, you will be charged an additional fee for the second check-in at the airline counter. Other airlines will check you in and print out your boarding pass free of charge. You can also have your boarding pass in your airline's mobile app.

    • I left my camera at a security checkpoint. Is there any way of checking if it was found?

      We recommend contacting the Lost & Found Office.

    • I am travelling to Great Britain. How many cigarettes can I carry in hand luggage?

      Passengers flying to Great Britain can carry a maximum of 800 cigarettes per person. You can find more information on the HM Revenue & Customs website at: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/.

    • How long before the departure do I need to show at the appropriate gate?

      The gate (i.e. departure gate) is closed in accordance with the terms and conditions and schedule of your airline. Please read the official terms and conditions of your airline. We suggest that you arrive at the departure hall at least 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

  2. 2. At the airport

    • Where can I get a VAT refund?

      VAT refunds can be obtained at the passenger terminal (Check-in zone) in the Currency Exchange office. However, you will first need to complete all the formalities in the Customs Office at level 0, right next to the Check-in desks.

    • Where can I find the Lost Luggage Office?

      The Lost Luggage Offices for all airlines are located in the passenger terminal, arrival hall and the common area, next to the arrival hall.

    • Where can I find the Lost and Found Office?

    • Is the airport open twenty four hours a day?

      The passenger terminal is open to passengers twenty four hours a day.

  3. 3. Access to the airport/city centre

    • How can I get to the city centre?

      Three municipal bus lines (208, 252 and 902 - a night line) run from Kraków Airport. Furthermore a train operated by Koleje Małopolskie will take you to the Main Railway Station in Kraków and to Wieliczka. Alternatively, you can use the services of Kraków Airport Taxi.     • How much does it cost to get to the city centre?

      All information on travelling to or from Kraków Airport can be found here.

    • How long does it take to get to the airport from the Kraków city centre?

      The required time differs depending on the means of transportation and traffic congestion. A bus ride takes about 45 minutes, a train ride is around 20 minutes and a taxi ride takes about 25 minutes.

    • Where can I buy public transport tickets? Can I purchase them with a payment card?

      Bus and train tickets can be bought in ticket machines located in the passenger terminal (level 0), in front of the arrival hall. Ticket machines accept payment cards. You can also buy tickets from the ticket inspector on a train (only by cash) or in a ticket machine on a bus (only by cash). Payment only in cash (coins) via ticket machine at the bus.

    • Can I pay for a public transport ticket in Euro?

      Public transport tickets can only be purchased in PLN.

    • Can I book a taxi in advance?

      Kraków Airport operates its own taxi company. It is called Kraków Airport Taxi. You can book a taxi in advance at http://www.krktaxi.pl/ or by contacting the Kraków Airport Taxi dispatch office at: +48 12 258 0 258.

    • How long does it take to get to the city centre?

      The required time differs depending on the means of transportation and traffic congestion. A bus ride takes about 45 minutes, by trains it takes about 20 minutes. Should you decide to take a taxi or a mini-bus, it will take 25 minutes.

    • How far is the city centre?

      The straight-line distance to the city centre is approximately 11 km.

  4. 4. Car Park

    • How much would it cost to leave a car in the multi-storey car park for 2 weeks?

      The latest price list and information about discounts and promotions can be found at www.krakowairport.pl, tab: Car Park, or by contacting the Car Park Customer Service at: +48 12 639 3456. Passengers who want to use the multi-storey car park can also join the loyalty program offered by Kraków Airport. It provides discounts e.g. at the multi-storey car park and duty-free shops.     • How can I book a spot at the multi-storey car park?

      You can book a parking spot by contacting the Car Park Customer Service at: +48 (12) 639 3456. The Customer Service is open 24/7.

    • Is the Kraków Airport Loyalty card only valid for charter flights?

      The card is valid both for charter and regular flights. More information about the card and program is available at www.krakowairport/loyalty.

    • Is the Car Park Customer Service open twenty four hours a day?

      The Car Park Customer Service located at the multi-storey car park is open twenty four hours a day. You can contact it at: +48 12 639 3456.

    • Where and how can I pay for the parking?

      Payments for the multi-storey car park (P1) as well as a car park (P2) are made in the automated payment machines located by the entrances to the car park, at the Car Park (P1) Customer Service at level 0.5 or via ticket machines locate at the Car Park (P2). Automated payment machines only accept cash while Car Park Customer Service accepts payments both in cash and by payment card.     • Is there a free Kiss&Fly car park at Kraków Airport?

      There is a Kiss&Fly lay-by in front of the passenger terminal. It provides free of charge parking for up to 10 minutes, then charge PLN 10,00 per each started 10 minutes. In the centre of the lay-by there are special parking spots for the disabled.

    • Can the disabled use the car park free of charge?

      The disabled can use special parking spots located in the Kiss&Fly lay-by at front of the passenger terminal. It provides free of charge parking for up to 10 minutes to persons who wish to say goodbye to passengers or pick them up. At level 0 of the multi-storey car park (P1) and also at the car park (P2) there are special parking spots for the disabled. However, they are not free of charge.

  5. 5. Customs restrictions

    • What are the customs restrictions on cigarettes and alcohol?

      The restrictions depend on the country to which you are flying. Please read the import regulations of the destination country before departure. All customs restrictions on cigarettes and alcohol are for adults only as minors cannot transport any alcohol or cigarettes. Additional information can be obtained by calling the Customs Office at: +48 12 639 3236.     • How many packs of cigarettes can I bring to Great Britain?

      Passengers flying to Great Britain can carry a maximum of 800 cigarettes per adult. You can find more information on the HM Revenue & Customs website at: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/.

    • Are the customs restrictions in Norway the same as in the European Union?

    • How many cigarettes and how much food can I bring to Norway?

      Passengers can bring up to 200 cigarettes and 10 kg of food to Norway. However, we recommend taking only a small amount of food. Due to the fact that Norway is not a EU member, it has stricter customs regulations.     • Can I bring food to the US?

      Customs regulations in the United States prohibit passengers from bringing agricultural and meat products to the country. A small amount of packed food needed for the duration of flight may be accepted when entering the US, but it will be scrupulously checked upon landing.     • Can I bring an antique painting to Australia?

      Transporting antiquities should be consulted with the Customs Office at: +48 12 639 3236 or +48 801 470 477, and with the airline that you are flying with.

    • How much alcohol can I bring to Russia?

      Persons over 21 years of age can bring up to 2 litres of alcohol to Russia. More information can be found on the Russian Customs website at: http://www.russian-customs.org/ftravelers/cofgpp/index.html.

    • What is the maximum amount of money allowed into France without declaring?

      Individuals can bring up to 10,000 euro in cash or its equivalent in a different currency to France or every other EU state without declaring it.

    • I am planning on bringing more than 10,000 euro in cash. Should I declare it?

      Yes, you should. Please contact the Customs Office at: +48 12 639 3236 to learn what formalities must be completed in order to legally transport over 10,000 euro or its equivalent in a different currency. Any amount up to 10,000 euro in cash does not have to be declared. If the amount exceeds 10,000 euro, it should be declared in the Customs Office.

  6. 6. Airlines, luggage check-in and animal transport

    • Are there airline ticket counters at Kraków Airport and does my airline have a call centre?

      Airlines that have their ticket counters at Kraków Airport are listed at www.krakowairport.pl, tab: Passenger/Services: Aviation Services. Contact information regarding a given airline can be found on their website or acquired by contacting the Airport Information at: +48 12 295 5800 and +48 801 055 000.

    • How long before departure does the check-in begin?

      Airlines operating at Kraków Airport usually begin checking passengers in (i.e. check-in) two hours before the scheduled departure. However, the time may change so please read the general terms and conditions of a given carrier or contact the Airport Information at: +48 12 295 5800 and +48 801 055 000.

    • How long before the departure do I need to show at the gate so that I may board my plane?

      The gate closing time differs and depends on the carrier. Please read the official terms and conditions of your airline. We suggest that you arrive at the departure hall at least 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

    • Do low-cost airlines transport animals?

      Low-cost airlines operating at Kraków Airport, i.e. Ryanair, Easy Jet, Jet2.com, Norwegian and Eurowings all have different regulations concerning animal transport aboard their planes. Below, is the summary of regulations concerning animal transport adopted by low-cost airlines operating at Kraków Airport:

      • Ryanair does not allow any animals aboard the plane except for guide dogs.
      • Similarly, Easy Jet does not allow any animals aboard the plane either, except for guide dogs.
      • Jet2.com only allows animals aboard domestic flights in Great Britain. Therefore, it is impossible to transport an animal (even a guide dog) when flying from or to Kraków.
      • Norwegian does allow animals aboard their planes but they are put in special cages or containers and transported in the cargo hold.
      • Eurowings transports pets (cats or dogs) up to 8 kg and only in the passenger cabin. The animal must be put in a cage that allows it to move freely during flight.
    • Can I bring a kitten in a basket aboard the plane?

      Most standard restrictions do not include small pets (up to 6-8 kg) transported in the passenger cabin. However, you must prenotify your airline that you wish to bring a pet aboard the plane as the number of passengers travelling with animals is limited.     • Can I bring a guide dog aboard the plane?

      All airlines are required to allow guide dogs accompanying their owners aboard their planes, in the passenger cabin. If you have any doubts, please contact your airline.   7. 7. Help provided to persons with reduced mobility (PRM)

    • Who can I notify if I need boarding assistance? I require help climbing stairs.

      Individuals who require help to embark a plane or move around the passenger terminal can order assistance upon booking their ticket or upon arriving at the airport, during the check-in process, in the Airport Information or by the Need Help point.

    • Can I book boarding assistance in advance?

      Boarding assistance can be ordered upon booking a ticket or by contacting the PRM Service (services for people with reduced mobility) at: +48 12 639 3064.

    • If I get boarding assistance at Kraków Airport, will anyone assist me upon landing in the destination airport?

      Yes, the handling agent that provides boarding help and assistance at Kraków Airport informs the destination airport of the assistance required upon arrival.

    • Does the airport offer luggage assistance? My daughter is going to need help transporting her luggage from the arrival hall.

  8. 8. Hand luggage, checked luggage and oversize luggage

    • Can I bring packed food in my hand luggage?

      You can bring packed food in your hand luggage.

    • Can I bring beverages and cosmetics in my hand luggage?

      Yes, you can. However, due to security reasons all liquids and cosmetics are subject to a volume limit of 100 ml per item. All creams, hair sprays or deodorants are also considered liquid and are subject to the same limit of 100 ml per item. Each passenger is able to have up to 10 liquid items.

    • Can I bring a tent or car parts in my hand luggage?

      You can put a tent in your hand luggage, but without the pegs. We recommend placing car parts in your checked luggage. Due to security reasons they may not be allowed aboard in the hand luggage. If you have any doubts, please contact the Airport Information (available 24 hours a day) at: +48 12 295 5800 or 801 055 000.

    • Do I need to put every liquid item in a plastic bag?

      Every liquid item transported in the hand luggage must be put in a special ziplock bag before going through security. Liquid medications and medical ointments are an exception and do not need to be placed in plastic bags.

    • What is the volume limit for liquids carried in hand luggage?

      Within the limits and due to security reasons passengers can only carry 10 liquid items of 100 ml each in their hand luggage.

    • Does the volume limit apply to checked luggage?

      You can put containers with fluids in your checked luggage, e.g. a 2 litre bottle of soda, as the limits do not apply. However, please remember about customs restrictions of the destination country when transporting larger quantities of alcohol.

  9. 9. Services

    • Is there a post office at the airport?

    • Is there a VIP lounge and Business Lounge at the airport?

      Yes, the VIP lounge is located in the western part of the passenger terminal, and the Business Lounge is in the departure hall, on the first floor.

    • Is there a bank at the airport?

      Yes, the Pekao SA office is located in the passenger terminal, in the check-in area. The bank is open from Monday to Friday, between 09:00 AM and 4:30 PM.

    • Is there a twenty-four hour exchange office at the airport?

    • Are there any sockets where I can charge my electronic devices at Kraków Airport?

      The sockets are located in the departure hall (by the seats) and in the common area, by the special stations with chairs.

    • Is there a Wi-Fi connection available to passengers?

      Kraków Airport provides a free Wi-Fi connection for passengers. The network's name is KRK Free Wi-Fi; it can be used free of charge for up to 15 minutes.

    • Where is the tourist information located?

      The tourist information is located in the passenger terminal at level 0, in the common area next to the arrival hall. Tourist information details: +48 (12) 285 5341, opening hours: from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

    • Is there a hotel in the airport area or in its vicinity?

      There is a Hilton Garden Inn**** hotel next to the airport. It is located adjacent to the passenger terminal. You can contact the hotel 24 hours a day at: +48 12 340 00 00. Other nearby hotels are located within 4 km from Kraków Airport. Detailed information about hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions in the area can be obtained at the Info Kraków tourist office located in the passenger terminal, at level 0, next to the arrival hall.     • Are there any self check-in points at the airport?

      There are no self check-in points at Kraków Airport. Passengers go through standard check-in and passport control points.

  10. 10. Travelling with child

    • Do I have to wait in line for the check-in and security control when travelling with little children?

      Passengers travelling with little children may request qualified assistance (Need Help) that will help them go through mandatory security in the least stressful manner and without having to wait in line.

    • Should I check in with a stroller?

      Yes, you should, if you want your stroller to be transported in the cargo hold or would like to check it directly before boarding the plane. Passenger service employees will label the stroller in an appropriate manner.

    • Are there any baby changing facilities at the airport?

      Changing tables are located in all toilets for the disabled people and in special family rooms before and upon passing security control.

    • Do the airlines charge additional fees for transporting a stroller or a baby carrier?

      Airlines operating at Kraków Airport transport strollers and baby carriers that are an integral part of a stroller without any charges. Some low-cost airlines do charge for baby equipment, i.e. additional luggage taken aboard the plane used by children such as a car seat.     • Can I bring a baby carrier aboard the plane?

      You can transport a baby carrier but it cannot be taken aboard the plane. It must be handed over to the ground handling services before boarding the plane so that they can put it in the cargo hold.

    • We are flying with our babies. Can we bring food and drinks for our children in our hand luggage?

      An appropriate amount of food and drinks for little children can be put in your hand luggage. All kinds of porridge, purée and juice in cartons or bottles in the quantities required for the duration of flight are allowed in your hand luggage while going through security.
